History

On Okinawa alone, the body count of Japanese came to 107,000 men and 11,000 prisoners of war. Another 25,000 men were apprently killed and sealed in caves. The Japanese had lost 7,800 aircraft in the concentrated attacks on the island and its environs or ten times as many as the Americans, but the American casualties in the taking of Okinawa alone had been heavy: about 75,000 officers and men.

So with this experience in the battle zone, it became all the more alluring to use the most expensive and most effective secret weapon of WW2...the Atom bomb.

Which Union general is credited with using "Total War" to bring about the eventual surrender of the deep south?
RideAnS [48]

The correct answer is William Sherman.

Sherman is often remembered for "Sherman's March to the Sea." Sherman, along with federal forces, used total warfare throughout the state of Georgia. This concept of total war consisted of destroying railroad tracks, burning crops, and burning down important buildings/homes of southern citizens. This attack helped lead to the downfall of the South, as the destruction of railroad tracks and food reduced the amount of resources available for the Confederacy.

Colt1911 [192]

Answer:

Allow the Southern States to re-enter as quickly as possible

Explanation:

Lincoln's main goal throughout the entire civil war was to reunify the country. He had a 10 point plan for this that included pledging alligence to the Union, which he did not get to implement due to his death following the war. Johnson was uninterested in making the south pay any restitution as a southerner himself, he let the south reenter as quickly as he could and removed military presence in the former confederate territories.

1. If the US was a unitary system, would Georgia or Colorado have been able to legalize recreational marijuana?
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

No, they would not have been able to legalize recreational marihuana.

Explanation:

This is because, in an unitary system, administrative divisions like Georgia or Colorado have very few powers, and certainly, they do not have any legislative powers.

All legislation emerges from the central government in an unitary system, and this means that if the U.S. was an unitary system, the law to legalize recreational marihuana would have to come, exclusively, from the U.S. Congress.

Unless the U.S. Congress legalized marihuana nationwide, no state would be allowed to do so under an unitary system. it would continue to be prohibited.
