\int {x \sqrt{2x+1} } \, dx We will use u-substitution: u=2x +1 , du = 2dx,dx= \frac{du}{2}, x= \frac{u-1}{2} ...=\frac{1}{4} \int {(u-1)} \sqrt{u}  \, du = \frac{1}{4} \int {u^{3/2} -u^{1/2} } \, du=
=\frac{1}{4} ( \frac{u^{5/2} }{ \frac{5}{2} }- \frac{u^{3/2} }{ \frac{3}{2} } ) ==\frac{1}{2}  \frac{3u^{5/2} -5u^{3/2} }{15}=
=\frac{1}{30} u^{3/2} (3u-5)=
=\frac{1}{30} (2x+1)^{3/2}(6x-2)=
=\frac{1}{15} (2x+1)^{2/3}(3x-1) +C

If a table seats 7, what is the least number of tables needed to seat 155 people
Fynjy0 [20]

23 is the minimum because 155 does not go into evenly and you have to have enough room for everybody, and make sure not to leave anybody out. 155 divided by 7 is 22.1428571429, you have to round it up to 23 so that everybody has a seat. Hope it helps!!

Explain why √3x+2 = -16 has no solution.
pogonyaev
The equation you wrote has no solutions since the left hand side is equal to 6x-10 and the right hand side is equal to 6x+8. Setting them equal we get -10=8 which is obviously wrong.

The gas tank in Sharon’s car can hold up to 16.5 gal of gas. About how many liters of gas can the tank hold? 1 L≈1.06 qt
My name is Ann [436]
Most people have trouble deciding on what conversion factor to use. If there you use one conversion factor, and you get something like this:

(gal^2)/qt

Then you know that you used the wrong conversion factor. ALWAYS remember to multiply and divide your units. If you don't, you will not know whether or not you got what you were looking for.
