Answer:

A. Earthquakes

Explanation:

    Coriolis's inertial force (or Coriolis Effect) is a movement perceived only by observers who are in a non-inertial frame of motion (for example, planet Earth). Newton's laws of motion are valid for inertial reference systems, ie without acceleration. To use them in a non-inertial system, one can adapt them by introducing fictitious forces. Therefore, it is common to call the Coriolis effect as a fictitious or inertial force, since it is only an acceleration (unit of measure is m / s² and not newtons).

1. How does the Pampas region impact<br> economic development in Latin America?
AVprozaik [17]

Answer:

The Pampas region has a big economic impact as it is the agricultural heart of Latin America.

Explanation:

The Pampas is a region that is mostly comprised of lowlands. Naturally, it is a biome where grasses dominate. The soil is highly fertile and the region as it is is relatively large. Humans have easily seen the potential of the Pampas and spend no time converting it in an agricultural landscape.

Latin America is a region that heavily relies on agriculture, both farming and raising cattle. Large, relatively flat land with fertile soil is excellent for farming, so the Pampas has been heavily exploited for the large-scale production of agricultural goods. Also, raising cattle is among the highest in the world in Latin America and it is constantly growing as a sector, and grasslands are needed to sustain the cattle, so the Pampas again is the place to exploit for it. While this has a big and positive economic impact, the effects on the flora and fauna of the Pampas have been devastating, to say the least.

Why is Antarctica governed by a treaty instead of a government? How might future developments in drilling and cold-weather techn
Maslowich

Answer:

There is no "Government of Antarctica" in the way that we understand it in the rest of the world. This is largely as there are no indigenous peoples and no-one lives there permanently, the only habitations are scientific stations that people visit for short time periods, usually from a couple of months to just over a year.

Representatives of the 12 nations met in Washington D.C. in 1959 to draft and sign the Antarctic Treaty - (summary here). This agreement dedicated the entire continent to peaceful scientific investigation. It came into effect in 1961 and all territorial claims were suspended. In 1991, 24 nations approved a protocol (addition) to the treaty that would ban oil and other mineral exploration for at least 50 years, this came into force in 1998 and stands until 2048, at which point it will be renegotiated, to change or remain as decided at the time. It is possible for the treaty to be changed before 2048, though it would take the unanimous agreement of all of the consultative parties to do so, as of 2015 there are 29 nations that are consultative parties.

There are now 52 countries that have signed the Antarctic Treaty - which represent about 80% of the world's population.

The key objectives of the Antarctic Treaty are:

To keep Antarctica demilitarized, to establish it as a nuclear-free zone, and to ensure that it is used for peaceful purposes only.

To promote international scientific cooperation in Antarctica.

To set aside disputes over territorial sovereignty.

The result is that Antarctica is one of the few places in the world which has never been affected by war, where the environment is fully protected and where the priority is scientific research. The Antarctic Treaty has ensured that this has continued and will continue for the foreseeable future.

The Treaty covers the areas south of 60°S latitude, extending to the South Pole.

In general for individuals at Antarctic bases, the national laws of their home country applies to them personally.

About how many times larger is the diameter of the Milky Way Galaxy than the diameter of Saturn’s rings? (Data: Saturn’s rings a
Mila [183]

Answer:

The diameter of the Milky Way is 3,503,974,249,104 km times larger than the diameter of Saturn's rings.

Explanation:

1 light year is the distance light can travel in one year. One light year is equal to exactly to 9,460,730,472,580.8 km.

Therefore the diameter of the milky way in distance is 9,460,730,472,580.8 x 10^{5}km while the diameter of Saturn rings are about 270,000km.

Comparing both diameters

\frac{9,460,730,472,580.8 * 10^{5}}{27*10^{4} }

= 350397424910.4 * 10^{1}

= 3,503,974,249,104 km
