Well the Senate is generally seen as the most important of the two chambers, as it's harder to get into. After the president the VP is second in line. However, if there was an election and the votes were a tie, the Senate will have a say as to how it should be settled

So their point of view may not match which leads to disputes and the relation cannot last.
