Isosceles triangle has 2 sides that are the same length. So what you have is three sides that measure: x, x, and (x-8). 70 = x + x + (x-8).
70 = x + x + x - 8
78 = 3x
x = 26.
and 26 - 8 = 18.
So two of your sides are 26 inches and the last side is 18 inches.

If we add 8 inches to the third side, then the triangle will be equilateral, and the perimeter will be 70+8=78 inches.

The sides of a 78-inch equilateral triangle is 78/3=26 inches.

So the equal sides of the isosceles triangle are both 26 inches, while
the third side is 26-8=18 inches.

Check: 18+26+26=70 inches   ✔

Find the area A of triangle JKL with the vertices J(5,8), K(0,7), and L(5,4)
eimsori [14]

Answer:

Area of the triangle is 10 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

Recall that the formula for the area of a triangle is: "base x height / 2", and  in this case, we can consider the triangle's base as the segment that joins the vertices (5, 4) and (5, 8) which gives a segment length of 4 units. The height of the triangle is then the distance between the third vertex (0,7) and the base, which is exactly 5 units. Then the area becomes:

Area = 4 x 5 / 2 = 10 square units.

Len [333]

Answer:

<h2>12 feet 8 inch long cast a shadow</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

A person 6 feet tall standing 18 feet away a lamppost cast a 9 foot shadow.

than move 4 feet than total distance is 22 feet

According to trigonometry rule make 30 degree angle

tan\left ( 30\ \right )^{o}=\frac{p}{b}

\left ( \frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} \right )=\left ( \frac{x}{18+4} \right )

or

x\sqrt{3}=22

than

x=\frac{22}{\sqrt{3}}
