The Aztec and the Mayan civilization were the part of the Mesoamerican civilizations situated in the central and southern part of Mexico.

Aztec society was divided between nobles and commoners, led by an Emperor. Alliance did not claim supreme authority over its tributary provinces in the Aztec empire.

The Mayas lived in an independent city, led by a king and his family. Maya cities were controlled by a king household, the elder son inherited the position of king.

The common between the empire was that they both practiced sacrifice and had slaves.
