War- countries fighting ( Syria and Israel) against each other for territory

poverty- often caused by war poverty exists in heavy amounts in many countries and affect mortality

These challenges are being addressed my many countries choosing to support or step in and help these needy countries ( like America)

The major environmental challenges facing the Middle East are; Water security, energy security, food scarcity, land degradation and desertification.

Explanation

Environmental problems facing Middle East are connected to political stability and security in the area. The region can adopt efficient water demand management of resources and practice large scale recycling of waste water and desalination. In the Middle East, conflicts on oil and gas has resulted to wars making it difficult for the responsible countries to produce adequate energy for their needs.
