The term naturalistic observational research is used to refer to several different types of non-experimental studies in which behavior is systematically observed and recorded. The goal of this observational research is to describe a variable or set of variables without changing or controlling any aspect of the variables being studied.
A correlational analysis is a kind of study design in which a researcher tries to understand what other kind of associations naturally occurring variables have with each other.
Simply put, correlation analysis attempts to establish if two or more factors are connected or linked and, if so, in what manner.
