Remark
The trick to this question is realizing what you took 1/3 of. Did you take it of the 150000 or is it 1/3 of some total you have to find. I don't think you could come up with a third choice.

It turns out that the answer is 1/3 of a number you don't know.

Equation
(1/3) x = 150000 Multiply both sides by 3
3*(1/3) x = 150000 * 3
x = 150000 * 3
x = 450000

Conclusion
The amount the company makes is 450000 dollars / year.

Julia can finish a 20-mile bike ride in 1.2 hours. Katie can finish the same bike ride in 1.6 hours. To the nearest tenth of a m
Brums [2.3K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

julia : 20 miles in 1.2 hrs = (20/1.2) = 16.67 miles per hr

katie : 20 miles in 1.6 hrs = (20 / 1.6) = 12.5 miles per hr

how much faster does julia ride then katie...

16.67 - 12.5 = 4.17 rounds to 4.2 miles per hr faster <==

A classmate is 22 years younger than your instructor. Write an equation that will determine your classmate’s age (y) if given yo
Dima020 [189]

Hey there, we are given quite a lot of information in this problem. First of all, let's make an equation.

y = x - 22

where y = student's age

where x = instructor's age

this equation is correct because x(instructor) - 22 will yield the student's age (y).

If the instructor were 44 years old, the student would be 22 years old.

y = 44 - 22

y = 22

If the instructor were 66 years old, the student would be 44 years old.

y = 66 - 22

y = 44
