What did the spoils system refer to?
Leya [2.2K]

The spoils system referred to:

 • B. the appointment of friends and political supporters to government positions

The spoils system refers to a system where political appointments are made as a favor or payback to the friends and supporters of a politician when he is appointed in public office.

As a result of this, the people who are appointed may not always be qualified for a particular position, so it is not based on meritocracy, but rather as a favor to them.

Therefore, the correct answer is option B

How does the Constitution's Article I ban on ex post facto laws protect people?

pls help
Paha777 [63]
The clause is really a state's rights clause. A state may not pass a law that makes something illegal that was legal before the law was passed. In other words if a state suddenly passed a law that said it is no longer legal to park your car in front of any government building, but it was legal to do so yesterday, the police cannot come to your door and issue a ticket for parking in front of a government building because you did it yesterday.

The constitution actually uses the phrase ex post facto law in Article 1 Section 10 Clause 1.
