OK......
Can't...
Can't, is a negative word. Can't, could break someones spirit to do something. Let's say someone wanted to achieve something, for instance, You want to walk to New York from..um...New Mexico. There are some people that would say you CAN'T do it. That it is just impossible to do such a thing. Now, that word can't could change that whole sentence. That word alone could break, crush, or destroy someones hope, spirit, or enthusiasm to do something. Can't, is a negative word. Can't, destroys hope, your spirit and your enthusiasm to do something..

Dennis_Churaev [7]

This question is missing the information in parenthesis. I've found the complete question online. It is the following:

What would be the right choice of pronoun for the sentences below from the choices in the parenthesis? Also what would be the correct antecedent from the choices in parenthesis?

1. Neither of the men has decided which team ________. (he prefers or they prefer) Antecedent (Neither, team, or men)

2. Each of the short story writers has a style of ______ own. (her or their) Antecedent (writer, style, Each)

Answer:

For number 1, the correct choices are "he prefers" (pronoun) and "Neither" (antecedent).

For number 2, the correct choices are "her" (pronoun) and "Each" (antecedent).

Explanation:

In colloquial language, we tend to not pay much attention to this, but when the subject of a sentence is "neither" or "each", we must use singular pronouns to refers to it. Since it is common for those words to be followed by plural nouns, we get easily confused, and end up using plural pronouns.

1. Neither of the men has decided which team... --> Who has decided? Neither. Therefore, "neither" is the antecedent. Since it is singular, we must choose the singular option, "he prefers".

2. Each of the short story writers has a style of... own. --> Who has a style? Each. I know it sounds strange on its own, but "each" is the subject. Since it is singular, we must use "her", the singular pronoun, to complete the sentence.

zhannawk [14.2K]

Maus is a book on the holocaust by Art Spiegelman. It is written in the present tense and from the first person's point of view. Thus, option C is accurate.

What are tense and point of view?

Tenses are the essential grammatical tool that expresses the reference of the plot with time. The verbs used in the sentences determine the form of tense. It can be past, present, and future.

The point of view is the reference point for telling the story from the perspective of the first, second or third person. The use of the words I, me, and mine show the first person's point of view.
