The death rate in Africa is the highest in the world. In 2005, the death rate was 14.2 per one thousand people. The average life expectancy (age people live to) on the continent was 50.4 during the same period. Although life expectancy rates are lower for those living in less-developed countries than in more-developed countries, Sub-Saharan Africa's is lower than most.
