Alcohol is a kind of liquor which produces by a process known as fermentation. Different type of alcohol is made from different sources of sugar and yeast. Consumption of excessive alcohol make a bad effect on the body as alcohol dissolves in the blood quickly and it impose the strong effect on brain.  

Alcohol overdose means increased level of alcohol in the body or consumption of high amount of alcohol. Liver is the organ which helps in removal of toxic substance from the blood in the form of carbon dioxide and water. Due to alcohol overdose liver won’t work properly and may lead to failure of liver. It can be reduced by various methods:

Eating after drinking reduces the absorption of alcohol by the body.

By controlling blood’s alcohol concentration level by consuming fewer amounts of alcohol or by sipping it slowly and keep the blood alcohol content (BAC) below 0.04 per cent.

Drinking coffee helps in reducing alcohol overdose as the caffeine present in coffee helps in increasing alertness and feels fuller.

There are many ways to decrease the chances of an alcohol overdose:

  1. Stop them from drinking more alcohol.
  2. Instead of alcohol beverages, choose non-alcoholic.
  3. Eat before or while drinking alcohol may slow its absorption into the body. (don't drink on empty stomach) .
  4. Avoid binge drink.
  5. Drink water in between alcoholic drink.
  6. Limited light to moderate intake of alcohol

Alcohol overdose or alcohol poisoning is a condition when someone drinks too much alcohol in a short period of time. Signs of an alcohol overdose include slow or irregular breathing, poor coordination, low body temperature, vomiting, choking, unconsciousness and confusion. Drink too much alcohol can cause serious health problem either in short or long term condition, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, mental health and also cancer.

There are some tips that we can follow for helping a drunk person:

  1. Stop them from drinking more alcohol .
  2. Drive them home or help them get home safely.
  3. Place them on their side, not on their back to keep the airway open if they start vomiting. If they lay on their back the vomit may make them choke
  4. When you see some overdose signs, call 911 right away because it's a life-threatening condition.
