Biology

The proteins<u> </u><u>function as enzymes to regulate the reaction rate,</u> transport proteins to carry molecules inside or outside the cells, and as antibodies to fight against foreign particles. <u>The storage and transmission of genetic information are not done by proteins but by DNA. </u>

<u> </u>

Further Explanation:

Proteins<u> </u><u>are complex large molecules required for various functions in the body.</u> They are essential for the function, structure, and regulation of the organs and tissues.<u> Proteins are composed of a large number of small units known as amino acids. </u>These amino acids are linked to each other to form a long chain. <u>The amino acids are 20 in numbers and are combined in different combinations to specify a particular protein and its function. </u>

<u> </u>

The process through which amino acids are assembled to form a protein sequence is called translation. During translation, the codon sequence in mRNA (messenger RNA) is converted into the amino acid sequence of proteins with the help of ribosomes and transfer RNA to produce a functional protein.

The proteins are found in different forms to perform different functions:

  • Antibodies: These are the proteins that target the foreign particles and defend the body against any infection. They diffuse into the bloodstream to be utilized by the immune system to identify and perform a defense mechanism against invaders.
  • Enzymes: this form of protein enables the speeding up of a biochemical reaction and is therefore known as a catalyst. For example, pepsin is used as a digestive enzyme for the degradation of proteins present in the food ingested.
  • Transport proteins: The proteins which act as carriers for the movement of molecules from one location to another are called transport proteins. For example, hemoglobin is used for the transportation of oxygen throughout the body with the help of red blood cells.
  • Hormonal proteins: The hormonal proteins help in coordinating the functions of the body, such as insulin protein, which controls the blood-sugar level.

The right answer is A.

Storing and transmitting the genetic information is the role of the DNA.

Proteins are biological macromolecules found in all living cells. They are formed of one or more polypeptide chains. Each of these chains consists of the sequence of amino acid residues linked together by peptide bonds. They can have multiple roles depending on their structure and composition

1- Maintenance of oncotic pressure

2- Buffer role

3- Transport function

4- Enzymes and Coenzymes

5- Role in coagulation and fibrinolysis

6- Role in immunity and allergy

7- Role in inflammation

8- Hormonal role

How does human evolution relate to the sensibility of disease
igomit [66]
Human evolution known to be a process in which species adapt to certain conditions of life, and in the battle of life and death, they are forced to become stronger in order to survive in the world. Diseases have always been present during the evolution, acting themselves as a natural selector-the weaker organisms get sick and die.

Mutation is a random and non-adaptive process. This was first proven by:
s2008m [1.1K]

Answer:

Option (d).

Explanation:

Mutation may be defined as the sudden, heritable change in the nucleotide sequence of the organism. Mutation may occur due to the errors in DNA replication or may occurs due to the mutagens.

Joshua and Lederberg experiment explains that mutation is the non adaptive and random process that occur in the organism. He used the replica plating of E.coli and grows them on streptomycin drug. The bacteria was grown on the the primary plate and they are transferred to the secondary plate with streptomycin drug in the growth environment. The resistant strain of bacteria grows in the streptomycin environment. The pattern of bacteria growth on the plate explained that mutation occurs randomly and it is a non adaptive process.

Thus, the correct answer is option (d).
