How does the anecdote about the Japanese ambassador contribute to the central ideas of the text? Day of Infamy
a_sh-v [17]

Answer:

He opens his speech with a sentence referring to “a date which will live in infamy" to grab his audience's attention.

Explanation:

The anecdote about the Japanese ambassador is important for the idea of the Day of Infamy as it points out the nature of the happenings in the Pearl Harbour.

President Roosevelt refers to the diplomatic relations between Japan and the USA, as he was saying that the Japanese ambassador was communicating with the USA after the attack on Pearl Harbour was underway.

The main idea of this speech is the Japanese trait of the trust of the USA.

What does the clue word “however” indicate?
MrMuchimi
The clue word "however" almost always indicates a "contrast". This is because when using this word, the writer can on one hand agree with what he or she is saying, but offer a different point of view to be considered.

I am not 100% sure, although I feel the best answer to this question is A. The poet is saying that people don't live long; life is short.
This is because he talks about someone remaining, or living on. You can infer from this that the poet believes that life feels short and brief. The poet doesn't mention beauty in this line, nor foes he express changes in his generation. However, D is still a possible answer, but he doesn't focus as much on himself and his unwant to grow old. I hope that this can help you out! :D
