(w,k)
that is amount of women and children lefton original side

ok, first realize you must get children across first because who will row the boat back

first trip: 10min, 2 children across, (3,1)
2nd trip: 20min, 1 kid cross back (3,2)
3rd trip: 30min, 2 kids cross (3,0)
4th trip: 40 min, 1 kid cross baack (3,1)
5th trip: 50 min, 1 woman cross (2,1)
6th trip: 60 min, 1 kid cross back (2,2)
7th trip: 70 min, 1 woman cross (1,2)
8th trip: 80 min, 1 kid cross back (1,1)
9th trip: 90 min, 1 woman cross (0,1)
10th trip: 100min, 1 kid cross back (0,2)
11th trip: 110 min, 2 kids cross back (0,0)

min time is 110 mins or 1hr 50min

The angle between the legs labeled x and y is complementary to the angle with measure 31 degrees, so that angle has measure 90 - 31 = 59 degrees. Then

\sin59^\circ=\dfrac{400}x\implies x=\dfrac{400}{\sin59^\circ}\approx466.7

The correct answer here is A. (3, 21) because when you graph these equations, you will find the lines intersect at this point and only this point.

Answer:

y = 1400 + 5.2x --- Running cost

y = 25 x --- Monthly income

71 cars

R1775

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Expenses

Salaries = 1400.00

Others = 5.20 per car

Income

Rate = 25.00 per car

Solving (a): Expression for the running cost

This is calculated as:

y = Salary + Others * x

Where

y = Total running cost

x = number of cars

So:

y = 1400 + 5.20 * x

y = 1400 + 5.2x

Solving (b): Expression for monthly income

This is calculated as:

y = Rate * x

Where

y = Total income

x = number of cars

So:

y = 25.00 * x

y = 25 x

Solving (c): Break even

To do this, we equate the expressions in (a) and (b)

y = y

25x = 1400 + 5.2x

Collect Like Terms

25x -5.2x= 1400

19.8x= 1400

Solve for x

x = \frac{1400}{19.8}

x = 71

Solving (d): How much to break even

Substitute 71 for x in any of (a) or (b)

y = 25 x

y = 25 * 71

y = 1775

<em>Solving (e): There is no question to answer on the "graph"</em>
