During the early years of Christianity, the religion was considered illegal. Despite this, Christianity was able to spread quickly. People who practiced Christianity had to hide from authorities, and the religion spread secretly, while Christians faced persecution, until Constant declared it the official state religion of the Roman Empire. After this point, Christianity became even more popular.

It is very likely that, if Christianity had not been declared legal, the speed in which it spread would have been a lot slower. However, it would have continued to spread through secret methods in the same way that it had during its early years.

Marat540 [252]

Answer:

During colonial times, agriculture was the basis of society in

South Carolina. South Carolina’s economy, politics, and social

standing revolved around the institution of slavery. Large

plantations used the headright method and slave labor to work the

fields. By 1860, South Carolina had the highest percentage of

slaveholders in the nation, even though few slave owners owned

large plantations. Most South Carolinians lived on family or

subsistence farms and did not own slaves. The majority of slave

owners only owned one to two slaves and often worked in the field

beside their slaves.

Mandarinka [93]
Silas was compared to a spider many times throughout the book. The statement that is presented is True. Silas Marner is in one sense the story of the title character, but it is also very much about the community of Raveloe in which he lives. Much of the novel’s dramatic force is generated by the tension between Silas and the society of Raveloe.
