Taking into account the natural dynamics of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers and the climatic conditions of Mesopotamia, what made agriculture possible was the creation of different irrigation systems. A channel system was established that allowed water to be taken to the cultivation sites. The largest canals came out of the rivers, and smaller canals and ditches were also built to drive water for irrigation. The construction and maintenance of these channels was achieved thanks to a high social and political organization.
