The answer should be 42 cm. All you have to do is add all of the sides together.

4 + 4 + 10 + 8 + 8 + 3 + 2 + 2 = 42

separate the figure into easier parts first. for example two rectangles. first to find the area of the bottom rectangle multiply 10 * 4 = 40. the second rectangle has a height of 8 and a width of 5 because 3 + 2 = 5 and 10 - 5 will get you the width of the top rectangle. 8 * 5 = 40. now add both of the rectangles to get the final area which would be 40 + 40 = 80cm
