As she is sitting outside and enjoying the sunset, Cassidy wants to estimate how long her shadow is. She knows that she is 5.7 f

eet tall, but she doesn’t have any tools with her. She does remember the trick at right for approximating angles on the horizon. She measures the angle from her eye level to the sun as 25°. Knowing that the angle she’s looking up is the same as the angle at the ground is 65°, she thinks she has everything she needs to find the length of her shadow! Help Cassidy find the length of her shadow.

Answer:

12.22 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

In the Question we are given the following variables.

Cassidy's height = 5.7 feet

The angle from Cassidy's eye level to the sun also known as Angle of elevation is given as = 25°

The length of Cassidy's shadow = unknown

To determine the length of Cassidy's shadow, we used the formula:

Length of shadow = Height ÷ tan (Angle of elevation)

Length of shadow = 5.7 feet ÷ tan 25°

Length of shadow = 12.22 feet

Therefore, the length of Cassidy's Shadow = 12.22 feet.

The sum of two numbers is 24. The difference is 15. What are the two numbers?
tatiyna
The numbers are "x" and "y",
we suggest this system of equations.
x+y=24
x-y=15
solve by reduction method.
x+y=24
x-y=15
-----------------
2x=39      ⇒x=39/2=19.5

  x+y=24
-(x-y=15)
-------------------
   2y=9    ⇒y=9/2=4.5

The numbers are 19.5 and 4.5

To check
19.5+4.5=24
19.5-4.5=15

for a field trip 4 students rode in cars and the rest filled nine buses. how many students were in each bus if 472 students were
Lemur [1.5K]
The answer is 52

x - the number of students in a bus

4 + 9x = 472
9x = 472 - 4
9x = 468
x = 468 / 9
x = 52

In Europe, gasoline efficiency is measured in km/L. If your car's gas mileage is 31.0mi/gal , how many liters of gasoline would
maw [93]
We need to convert the mileage from mi/gal units into to km/L units using the conversion factors.

(31.0 mi/gal) x (1 km / 0.6214 mi) x (1 gal / 3.78 L) = 13.20 km/L

Next, we divide the distance by the mileage.
(142 km) / (13.20 km/L) = 10.79 L

Therefore, you need 10.79 liters of gasoline.

The table shows the number of cups of water required when cooking different amounts of rice.
Harman [31]

Answer-

The amount of water is the dependent value.

Solution-

Plotting the graph from the given data points, it comes out to be a straight line with positive slope. So, both the variables i.e amount of rice and amount of water are in a linear relationship. They are directly proportional to each other.

As the amount of rice increases, the water needed to cook the rice also increases. Plotting a graph taking amount of rice in abscissa and amount of water in ordinate, a straight line was obtained.

Here, amount of rice is the independent variable and amount of water is dependent variable as it depends on the amount of rice.
