Answer:

Department of justice The United States Department of Justice (DOJ), otherwise called the Justice Department, is a government official division of the U.S. government, in charge of the requirement of the law and organization of justice in the United States, comparable to the justice or interior ministries of different nations. The division was shaped in 1870 amid the Ulysses S. Grant administration. By 1870, after the end of the Civil War, the increase in the amount of litigation involving the United States had required the very expensive retention of a large number of private attorneys to handle the workload.  A concerned Congress passed the Act to Establish the Department of Justice (ch. 150, 16 Stat. 162), creating "an executive department of the government of the United States" with the Attorney General as its head. One of their functions is to evaluate the performance of the Offices of the United States Attorneys. They will correct any mistakes the office may be making. For example, they make sure appropriate reports are being filed. The Department of Justice is very important not only is it the largest firm in the Nation, it serves as counsel for its citizens. It represents them in enforcing the law in the public interest. It also plays a key role in protection against criminals & subversion, enforcing drug & immigration laws. The Department of Justice is responsible for enforcing the law & defending the interests of the United States; ensuring public safety against foreign & domestic threats; providing Federal leadership in preventing and controlling crime, etc. It overall protects the Nation, improves the way federal dollars are spent, & makes targeted investments and tough choices for state & local assistance initiatives. Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice issued subpoenas to two generic drug makers seeking information about their interactions with competitors.  They want documents about communication or correspondence with rivals about generic drug sales, but not any particular product or period of time, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Today, the DOJ is the largest law office in the world, with a budget of $25 billion and numerous offices, boards, and divisions, including the offices of the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, Associate Attorney General, and Solicitor General.
