a period of excessive speculation. The collapse of the stock market revealed that the much-trumpeted economic prosperity of the 1920s had been built on weak foundations. By this period, production had already declined and unemployment had risen, leaving stocks in great excess of their real value. Government policies throughout the twenties, such as high tariffs, soft enforcement of anti-trust laws, the absence of checks on speculation in real estate and the stock market, contributed to the implosion of the Great Depression.

The stock market crash of 1929 was a direct result of an underproduction of goods in the economy.

Further Explanations:

The “Stock market crash” of 24th Ocober1929was the consequences of the “Great Depression” that prevailed in the United States during that era. It created havoc as due to the sudden crash of the market, the shareholders sold their shares at minimal price. It was estimated that the nation lost almost 396 billion dollars as of today that was more than the total worth of the Second World War. The decline caused bankruptcy and severe economic difficulties, including reduction of credit, business cessations, firing of employees, and other depressing events.

One noteworthy reason behind the crash was the underproduction of goods in the economy due to the strategies adopted by PresidentHerbert Clark Hoover. His assurance speech generated mess in the share market that resulted cheapest share to touch its crest. This rise of worth even beyond its genuine value resulted in the speculation and unlocked the path of the stock marketcrash. Hoover though was warned about this emergency but he unnoticed it and engaged himself in the employment of the “Federal Reserve System”.

Which of these is an argument against the production of genetically engineered food
IrinaVladis [17]

Answer:

D. Genetically engineered food is unnatural and possibly dangerous to eat

Explanation:

One of the biggest arguments about the genetically engineered food is that it is not natural food and it can be dangerous to eat. It is still hard to evaluate the effect of the majority of the GMO's as they have been introduced very recently. There are some GMO's that have proven to be very damaging though, like the GMO soy for example. It has been proved that this soy actually manages to reduce the amount of testosterone in the men, and that it is the main cause why the testosterone in the men in the Western world has dropped as much as 50% in the past few decades. The women have increased levels of anxiety, aggression, and depression because of the GMO soy. So taken this in consideration it doesn't seem that it is a good choice to consume this type fo foods.

1) Can you see any features that might indicate that this house was built by a Cherokee? In what ways do you think the design of
AlladinOne [14]

The house has no features to show that it was built by a Cherokee. This design reflects the attitude of Ridge that had adapted to the American way of life by abandoning indigenous customs.

Major Ridge (1771 - 1839) was a Cherokee leader who was noted for:

 • He was a member of the tribal council and legislator.
 • He supported acculturation.
 • He became a wealthy planter, slave owner, and boatman in Georgia.
 • He signed the passage of the controversial New Echota Treaty of 1835, which handed over the Cherokee territory to the United States government.
 • He was sentenced to death and murdered in 1839 under the Cherokee Blood Act.

Regarding the house Ridge lived in, it is a two-story white log home located on his 223-acre plantation on Cha.tillon, Rome, Georgia.

This house differs greatly from the structure of the traditional houses of the Cherokee culture because they were built in the shape of a pyramid with a circular base covered with leather made from animal skins.
