A woman with type A blood (whose father was type O) has children with a man that has type O blood. Both individuals are heterozy

gous for the MN antigen. Recall that MN blood group antigens are independent of the ABO locus, and that the alleles are codominant.
How would the results from Part A change if both parents are also heterozygous for the FUT1 gene controlling the synthesis of the H substance (Hh)?
Drag the correct value to the blank following each offspring type.
Type A with M antigen:_________.
Type A with M and N antigens:_________.
Type A with N antigen:__________.
Type O with M antigen:__________.
Type O with M and N antigens:__________.
Type O with antigen:_________.

Answer:

Explanation:

A woman with type A blood (whose father was type O) meaning her genotype is AO mates with

Man that has type O blood (OO genotype)

Both are heterozygous for MN blood group and both also heterozygous for the FUT1 gene controlling the synthesis of the H substance (Hh)- which determines the expression of the A and B antigen.

Cross

A O M N H h

O AO OO M MM MN H HH Hh

O AO OO N MN NN h Hh hh

Type A- 1/2 O-1/2 type M- 1/4 MN-1/2 N- 1/4, type H- 3/4 h-1/4

Type A with M antigen:

1/2*1/4*3/4 = 3/32

Type A with M and N antigens:

1/2*1/2*3/4 = 3/16

Type A with N antigen:

1/2*1/4*3/4 = 3/32

Type O with M antigen:

1/2*1/4*3/4= 3/32

Type O with M and N antigens:

1/2*1/2*3/4 = 3/16

Type O with N antigen:

1/2*1/4*3/4 = 3/32.

The 3/4 value comes from the expression of Hh-3/4 (this determines if the A and B Angie will be expressed).

Which natural selection condition example can be classified as over production of offspring?
Tatiana [17]
Natural selection is the process by which individuals with characteristics that are advantageous for reproduction in a specific environment leave more offspring in the next generation, thereby increasing the proportion of their genes in the population gene pool over time. Natural selection is the principal mechanism of evolutionary change, and is the most important idea in all biology. Natural selection, the unifying concept of life, was first proposed by Charles Darwin, and represents his single greatest contribution to science.

Natural selection occurs in any reproducing population faced with a changing or variable environment. The environment includes not only physical factors such as climate or terrain, but also living factors such as predators, prey, and other members of a population.

Mechanism of Natural Selection

The mechanism of natural selection depends on several phenomena:

• Heredity: Offspring inherit their traits from their parents, in the form of genes.

• Heritable individual variation: Members of a population have slight differences among them, whether in height, eyesight acuity, beak shape, rate of egg production, or other traits that may affect survival and reproduction. If a trait has a genetic basis, it can be passed on to offspring.

• Overproduction of offspring: In any given generation, populations tend to create more progeny than can survive to reproductive age.

• Competition for resources: Because of excess population, individuals must compete for food, nesting sites, mates, or other resources that affect their ability to successfully reproduce.

Given all these factors, natural selection unavoidably occurs. Those members of a population that reproduce the most will, by definition, leave more offspring for the next generation. These offspring inherit their parents' traits, and are therefore also likely to succeed in competition for resources (assuming the environment continues to pose the same challenges as those faced by parents). Over several generations, the proportion of offspring in a population that are descended from the successful ancestor

increases, and traits that made the ancestor successful therefore also increase in frequency. Natural selection leads to adaptation, in which an organism's traits conform to the environment's conditions for existence.

The____ is the section of the rainforest that is too dark for most plant life.(write response, no opinion choices)
AveGali [126]

Answer:

Forest floor

Explanation:

Tropical rainforest is characterized by high rainfall that allows a diverse growth of plant species. The different species of plants and animals species that make up a rainforest are found in different layers. There are four layers or sections in the rainforest from top to bottom viz: emergent layer, canopy, understory and forest floor.

Since the layers are classified from top to bottom, each layer receives different amount of rainfall and sunlight. According to the question, the FOREST FLOOR receives the least amount of sunlight making it the darkest section of the rainforest. Due to the inhibited penetration of sunlight into this layer, it usually does not support any plant growth.

The bases of RNA are the same as those of DNA except that RNA has _______.
Pavlova-9 [17]
RNA has Uracil instead of Thymine. All the other three bases also occurs in RNA, adenine, guanine and cytosine. Therefore a ATA DNA codon will be transcript to UAU by RNA. Both Thymine and Uracil have the same role in however have minor chemical differences.
