How are RNA and DNA used to make proteins?
saw5 [17]

Answer:

The correct answer is<u> DNA has coded instructions for making proteins, and RNA translates the code.</u>

Explanation:

We can understand this answer with the help of concept of central dogma. Central dogma is the flow of information from DNA to mRNA (transcription) and then decoding the information present in mRNA in the formation of polypeptide chain or protein (translation). Functionally, DNA maintains the protein-encoding information, whereas RNA uses the information to enable the cell to synthesize the particular protein.

kotykmax [81]

Due to negative effects on blood lipids, the main source of low density lipoprotein have been banned from the food supply.

<h3>What is Low density lipoprotein?</h3>

This is a type of molecule which comprises of lipid (fat) and protein and is regarded as bad cholesterol as it clogs the arteries.

This type of lipid increases the risk of heart disease which is why it was banned from the food supply.

A woman with normal vision has a son. The woman’s maternal grandfather is color-blind. What is the probability that the son is c
Reptile [31]

Answer:

= \frac{1}{4}

Explanation:

Given that the woman’s maternal grandfather is color-blind, then it is possible that the woman is a carrier of color-blind allele.

Then probability that the woman is a carrier of color-blind allele is = \frac{1}{2}

So if a carrier woman cross with a normal man

Let say the gene of the carrier woman is: XX^c

and the normal man = XY

so if we have a cross between  XY and XX^c; we have:

                     X                     Y

X                   XX                 XY

X^c                 XX^c                 X^cY

we can see the offspring to be :

XX =normal unaffected female

XY = normal unaffected male

XX^c = carrier female for color-blind

X^cY = carrier male for color-bind

Then probability that of  inheriting defective allele = \frac{2}{4} = \frac{1}{2}

Let's not forget that the probability that the woman is a carrier of color-blind allele is = \frac{1}{2}

∴  the probability that the son is colorblind = \frac{1}{2}*\frac{1}{2}

= \frac{1}{4}

Why does a star of<br> average mass expand<br> into a red giant?
Scilla [17]

Answer:

When a star expands, the surface of the star becomes cooler as well as redder. Hence, forming the red giant.

Explanation:

If all the hydrogen which is present in a star gets fused into helium then an increase in the core temperature can be seen along with the core contractions. As a result of these core pressures and the core temperatures, the helium gets fused into carbon through a process known as the triple alpha process. As a result, the star begins to expand whereas its surface becomes cooler and redder which leads to the formation of red giant.
