The longest length of dowel will feet in the dimension that will give us the highest length of the hypotenuse;
given that the dimension of our box is:
15 by 20 by 30:
this will be given by:
c^2=a^2+b^2+c^2
c^2=15^2+20^2+30^2
c^2=225+400+900
c^2=1525
c=√1525
c=39.05 cm
Therefore the longest dowel will be 39 cm (to the nearest whole centimeter)<span />

Answer: 39 cm

SOLUTION

Given,

Length, L = 30 cm

Breadth, B = 15 cm

Height, H = 20 cm.

The longest length of a 1 cm diameter wooden dowel that could fit inside the box = The diagonal, D of the box (from the lower front left corner to the upper back right corner)

Diagonal, D = ?

D^2 = L^2 + B^2 + C^2

D^2 = 30^2 + 15^2 + 20^2

D^2 = 900 + 225 + 400

D^2 = 1525

D = 39 cm (to the nearest whole centimeter)

Therefore, the longest length of a 1 cm diameter wooden dowel that could fit inside the box is 39 cm (to the nearest whole centimeter).

Sasha returned home from mowing lawns at 4:15 p.m. It took 3/4h to mow the first lawn. The second lawn took 1h. She took a 30-mi
tankabanditka [31]

Answer:

2:00 p.m.

Step-by-step explanation:

3/4 hour is equal to 45 minutes. Add 30 minutes to that and you have 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will then add the final hour to that to get 2 hours and 15 minutes. Subtract that from 4:15 and you get 2:00.

SUppose the total cost C(x) to manufacture a quantity x of insecticide (in hundreds of liters) is given by
Hitman42 [59]

Answer:

a) C(x) is increasing in two regions: (i) (+\infty, 8\,s) and (ii) (10\,s,+\infty).

b) C(x) decreases in (8\,s, 10\,s).

Step-by-step explanation:

Let C(x) = x^{3}-27\cdot x^{2}+240\cdot x +850, where x is the quantity of insecticide, measured in hundreds of liters, and C(x) is the total manufacturing cost as a function of the quantity of the insecticide, measured in US dollars. A possible approach to determine which regions of C(x) are decreasing and increasing by means of the first derivative and graphing tools. The first derivative of the function is:

C'(x) = 3\cdot x^{2}-54\cdot x+240 (1)

Please notice that regions where C(x) is increasing has C'(x) > 0, whereas C'(x) < 0 when C(x) < 0.

We notice that C(x) is increasing in two regions: (i) (+\infty, 8\,s) and (ii) (10\,s,+\infty). Besides, C(x) decreases in (8\,s, 10\,s).

One bag of marbles contains 2 black , 3 red , and 5 white marbles . A second bag contains 3 white and 2 black marbles . What is
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:

<u>NOT BOTH BLACK = 1-2/25 = 23/25</u>

Step-by-step explanation:

Bag 1 : 8 non-black out of 10

P(1) = 8/10

Bag 2: 3 non-black out of 10

P(2)=3/5

Probability of both independent events happening can be calculated using the multiplication rule

P(1) and P(2) = P(1)*P(2) = 8/10 * 3/5 = 24/50 = <u>12/25 (both are not black, or none is black)</u>

Interpretating not both black meaning at most one black, then

we calculate the probability of both are black,

P(1) = 2/10

P(2) = 2/5

Probability that both balls are black can be calculated using the multiplication rule

P(1) and P(2) = 2/10 * 2/5 = 2/25

Probability that <u>NOT BOTH BLACK = 1-2/25 = 23/25, i.e. at most one black</u>

At a museum cafe you can get a pre-made boxed lunch with a sandwich, fruit, and drink for only $3.
Anastasy [175]

Given that sandwiches are made with either turkey or ham.

Prob for turkey or ham = 1/2

The fruit can be either apple or orange. Hence p(apple) = p(orange) =12

Drinks can be either bottled water or juice

P(water) = P(juice) = 1/2

We find that sandwiches, fruits, and drinks are mutually independent of each other.

Hence the probability you will get an orange and not get juice in your box

Prob (you get an orange and bottled water)

= Prob (orange) *Prob (bottled water) (since the two are independent

= 1/2 (1/2)= 1/4

Hence answer is 0.25
