It is a category of musical texture that has two or distant concurrent cords of the autonomous hymn, symphony or music as obstructed to a musical texture with a barely single voice. Polyphony has its emergence from the European form of music, but when it came to geographical location it is originated from Sub Saharan Africa. Melisma is the singing of only the single syllable of words while in motion between various different types of notes in succession.  Sometimes the word polyphonic is also utilized further extensively, to characterize any musical fabric that is not monophonic. Monophony, on the other hand, is a category of musical texture which has only one cord in its composition.
