Slaves then become not just house helpers but also entertainers which had its good and bad side effects.</span>

Different genres, like movies and novels, depicted —and some continue to do so even to this day— slaves through stereotypical figures that created a sense of relief and false or complacent consciousness for those who were the dominant groups in society —white, privileged men. Through these depictions, the resistance, the struggles, the pain and suffering, and the injustices —even death itself— that slaves had to endure were sadistically undermined for the favor and comfort of those in power.

 <span>Russia was barely progressing along into the 20th century. They were behind economically, industrially, and socially. 
Then, while all of those troubles were ongoing, they ended up in WWI, so they were taking the little bit of prosperity that they had and sending it to help fight a war. The Russians weren't even doing that good a job of fighting, which enraged the people further.
