Well, it's kind of inconvenient (bummer) not to know the formulas, because
that's the whole point of this exercise ... knowing and using the formulas.

Here are the formulas you need.
Cut this out and hang it on the fridge:

-- Volume of a cube = (side)³

-- Volume of a sphere = (4/3) (pi) (radius)³

-- Volume of a cylinder = (pi) (radius)² (height)

-- Volume of a cone = (1/3) (pi) (radius)² (height)

Use these formulas to find the volumes in #14, #15, and #16.
Each picture is a combination of <u>two</u> of these shapes.
#14 is a cube, plus half of a sphere on top of it.
#15 is a short cylinder, plus a cone on top of it.
#16 is a tall cylinder, minus half of a sphere carved out of the top end.
============================================
<em>#14).</em>  This is a cube with sides=8cm
PLUS
half of a sphere whose radius is 4cm, sitting on top of the cube.

Volume of the cube = s³ = (8cm)³ = 512 cm³
Volume of the half-sphere = half of (4/3) (pi) (4)³ = 134.04 cm³

Volume of the combination =  <em>646.04 cm³</em>
=============================================
<em>#15).</em>
This is a cylinder, with radius=16ft and height=4ft
PLUS
a cone, with radius=16ft and height=4ft, sitting on top of the cylinder.

Addum up !
=========================================
<em>#16).</em>
This is a cylinder, with radius=6in and height=11in.
MINUS
half of a sphere, with radius=6in, scooped out of the
top of the cylinder.

The sum of two numbers is 23. Twice one number increased by 6 is the same as 4 times the other number decreased by 2. What is th
Crank

Answer:

One number is 4.2, the other is 18.8

Step-by-step explanation:

1.)  x+y=23

    (x+6y)x2=4

2.) (x+6y)x2=4   =   2x+12y=4

3.)Use elimination/substitution to solve

     2x+12y=4  =   x+6y=2  =  x=2-6y

     2-6y+y=23

4.)Solve for y

     2-5y=23 -> -5y=21 -> y=4.2.

5.)Solve for x

    x+4.2=23

    x=18.8

A recent study revealed that the average weight of babies born in the United States is normally distributed with a mean of 7.5 p
Naddik [55]

Answer:

a. the standard deviation for young mothers is not expected to be different than the standard deviation in the population

Step-by-step explanation:

The population mean = μ= 7.5

Sample mean = x`= 7.3

Sample standard deviation= s= 0.6

Sample size = 87

Assuming normality we perform z test

z= x`-u/s/√n

z= 7.3-7.5/0.6/√87

z= -3.11

The critical region for 0.05 for two tailed test is z>+1.96 and Z<-1.96

Since the calculated z= -3.11 falls in the critical region Z<-1.96 we conclude that birth rate is lower in the young mothers.

a. the standard deviation for young mothers is not expected to be different than the standard deviation in the population

Only choice a is correct because when n > 30 the population standard deviation and the sample standard deviation are assumed to be normal

Choice b cannot be the correct option because it is already inferred that only one baby was measured per mother.

Choice C cannot be also the best choice because it is already assumed.

Choice d is totally incorrect.
