In order to calculate that distance, we need to know the
" scale " of the map ... how many miles is represented by
1 inch on the map, or the ratio.

Different maps are drawn with different scales.

Tonya works 60 hours in 3 weeks. Select ALL the true statements OR YOU WILL FAIL THE GRADE.
tatuchka [14]

Answer: b & c

Step-by-step explanation:

first i found how many hours tonya works in one week which was 20. i got that by dividing 60 by 3. then that set me up for finding the answer to the other problems as well. 60+20=80 so a wouldn’t have worked. 5x5 is 25 and she only worked 20 hours a week. and she would’ve worked 320 hours in 16 weeks, not 240. hope this helps!! :)

Which of the following is a solution to 2cos x + 1 = 0? 60° 120° 210° 300°
klasskru [66]
Rewrite   <span>2cos x + 1 = 0    as:

2 cos x = -1, and then cos x = -1/2

x must be in Quadrant II or Quadrant III, since the adj. side is negative.

Note that the angle 120 has adj. side -1 and hyp 2.  So 120 degrees is one solution.

Now what about a possible 2nd solution, to be found in Quadrant III?  That would be -120 degrees, which has the same terminal line as does 240 degrees.

No soap.

So, the solution is 120 degrees.</span>

Ralph is 3 times as old as Sara. In 4 years, Ralph will be only twice as old as Sara will be then. Find Ralph's age now.
fiasKO [112]
Ralph is 12. If Ralph is 12 that means Sara is 4 (12/4=3). In 4 years Sara will be 8 and Ralph would be 16 (16/8=2).

Write an equation of the line containing the given point and perpendicular to the given line. express your answer in the form y=
katovenus [111]
The given line
4x + y = 5
The slope of the given line is -4

Find the slope of perpendicular line
m₁ × m₂ = -1
-4 × m₂ = -1
m₂ = -1/-4
m₂ = 1/4

Find the equation of perpendicular line
y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)
y - 9 = 1/4(x - 8)
y - 9 = (1/4) x - 2
y = (1/4)x - 2 + 9
y = (1/4)x + 7

Kara ate 2 7/9 of the raisins she packed. Which box shows the decimal equivalent of the amount of raisins she ate? Box A: 2.777
vivado [14]

Answer:  Box A, 2.777

=======================================================

Explanation:

When using a calculator or long division, you should find that

7/9 = 0.7777...

where the 7s go on forever

So we can say that 7/9 = 0.777 approximately. You could argue that the last '7' would round up to an '8' and we could say 7/9 = 0.778; however, I'll stick to the first value so that it matches with the answer.

Since 7/9 = 0.777, this means 2 & 7/9 = 2 + 7/9 = 2 + 0.777 = 2.777 which is box A.
