Empathic listening acquires therapeutic value for someone battling with a problem, as it allows them to solve their difficulties in the company of a caring, mindful listener. You must epower, support and higher the person and their self esteem. You must create a safe space where the person is not pressured or feels embarassed. If the person has any doubts that their problems are not important, you must remind them of their value and that you are there for them. You must build mutual respect, trust, and understanding. Remember to  ask open ended questions that invite more from the speaker.
