What happens when hydrogen ions combine with hydroxide ions
s2008m [1.1K]
Hydrogen ion, or H-, creates water when combined with a hydroxide ion, OH+.

The 'formula' for water is H20, two hydrogens and an oxygen.

I hope that I helped but if this still makes no sense, or if I haven't explained it as well, then please don't hesitate to ask further questions. Thank you.

Hydrogen ions are important in the light-dependent reactions of photosynthesis because they produce a
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

a. the production of ATP

Explanation:

Photosynthesis is type of biosynthesis that produces glucose from the reactants sunlight, carbon dioxide and water. It happens in two phases of the chloroplast, the light-dependent and light-independent reactions. In a light reaction that stimulates photosystems, pigments such as chlorophyll absorb light energy at specific wavelengths. Here,

  • Light energy stimulates photosystem complexes formed from chlorophyll. Photosystem II then absorbs and transfers light to a reaction core.
  • Water undergoes hydrolysis or splitting to yield an electron, a proton (H+) and oxygen.
  • energy is passed along the electron transport chain, where it forms builds up H+ and an electrochemical gradient in the thylakoid space
  • These protons pass through the ATPase enzyme embedded within the membrane, into the stroma, generating ATP from ADP.
  • NADPH is generated from NADP+

rjkz [21]

Answer:

Option B

Explanation:

The presence of these structures in this stage may be a prediction of a common ancestor as these structures are not gills because they do not develop into gills in chicks and humans but being so similar to gill structures in fish at this stage in their embryo suggests that chicks and humans share a common ancestor with fish.
