As we multiply the matrices on the left-hand side,we have;
x+3y=5---eq1
x+4y=6---eq2
eq1-eq2

-y=-1
y =1

Subsitution of y=1 in eq1,
x+3(1)=5
x+3=5
x=5-3
x=2
