A FedEx freight truck carries three tons of packages 660 miles on 90 gallons of diesel fuel from Miami, Fl to Atlanta, Ga. FedEx

makes a graph to represent the miles per gallon the truck uses.
(a) Sketch a graph to represent the situation. Use one axis to represent the number of miles and the other axis to represent the number of gallons. Label your intercepts.

(b) What is the domain in this situation? explain you answer.

Ans(a):

Given that a FedEx freight truck carries three tons of packages 660 miles on 90 gallons of diesel fuel from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA.

so that means speed of the truck is

speed = distance/time = 660/90 miles per gallon

hence slope of the equation will be

m=660/90 = 66/9= 22/3

There is no information about initial cost or any initial value so that means y-intercept b=0

plug value of m and b into y=mx+b

so we get equation y=22/3x+0

Where x is the number of gallons and y is the number of miles

Now we can easily graph this equation to get the required graph.

when x=0 then y=22/3x=22/3*0=0

so first point is (0,0)

when x=3 then y=22/3x=22/3*3=22

so second point is (3,22)

Now we join them by a line to get the graph

Ans(b):

clearly number of gallons can't be negative. It is also given that truck uses 90 gallons of diesel fuel. so the domain can be any real number from 0 to 90 or we can write domain as [0,90].

Ans(c):

Origin of the graph represents that if there is no gallons of fuel used then there will be no distance traveled.

Answer:

261 of the graduates are planning to go to college.

Step-by-step explanation:

This is a proportion question.

How are you in the bet nobody’s not going to help me on this question
Nataliya [291]

Answer:

See below.

Step-by-step explanation:

Party A

y = x^2 + 1

For each value of x in the table, substitute x in the equation with that value and evaluate y.

x = -2: y = (-2)^2 + 1 = 4 + 1 = 5

x = -1: y = (-1)^2 + 1 = 1 + 1 = 2

Do the same for x = 0, x = 1, x = 2

x     y

-2   5

-1    2

0    1

1     2

2    5

Part B

Look at points (-2, 5) and (-1, 2). The change in x from (-2, 5) to (-1, 2) is 1. The change in y is -3.

Now let's look at two other points which have a change in x of 1. Look at points (0, 1) and (1, 2). The change in x from (0, 1) to (1, 2) is 1. The change in y is 1.

You can see that for the first two points, a change of 1 in x produces a change of -3 in y, but for the second two points, the same change of 1 in x produce a change of 1 in y. Since the same change of x does not always produce the same change in y, the function is nonlinear.

What is the volume of a cone that has a radius of 4 cm and a height of 9 cm?
vodka [1.7K]
For any sort of pyramid or cone, the volume is 1/3 of the volume of a prism with the same base and height. Since the volume of a prism/cylinder is V=Bh, the volume of a pyramid/cone is V=\frac{1}3Bh.

In this case, our base is a circle, which has a radius of 4 cm.
The area of a circle is A=\pi r^2 where r is the radius.
A=\pi (4)^2=\pi (4\times4)=16\pi=B

We now know that our base is 16π cm.
We also know that our height is 9 cm.
Let's plug these into our volume formula.

V=\frac{1}3\times16\pi \times9

Use 3.14 to approximate pi as the question states. 16 × 3.14 = 50.24.

V\approx\frac{1}3\times50.24\times9

We could punch all of that into our calculator to get the same answer, but since 1/3 of 9 is clearly 3, let's just go with that.

V\approx3\times50.24

\boxed{V\approx150.72\ cm^3}

The speed of a car after accelerating for 8 seconds is inversely proportional to its weight. The car weighs 1600 kg and accelera
STatiana [176]

Answer:

With 800 extra kg load: speed = 66.667 km/h

With 2400 extra kg load: speed = 40 km/h

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's call the weight of the car W = 1600 kg, and its speed after accelerating for 8 seconds with this weight S = 100 km/h

If we load the car with 800 extra kg, the total weight will be:

W2 = W + 800 = 2400 kg

The relation between the weights is:

W2 / W = 2400 / 1600 = 1.5

If the weight increased 1.5 times, the relation between the speeds will be 1/1.5 (as they are inversely proportional), so:

S2 / S = 1 / 1.5

S2 = S / 1.5 = 66.667 km/h

If we load the car with 2400 extra kg, the total weight will be:

W3 = W + 2400 = 4000 kg

The relation between the weights is:

W3 / W = 4000 / 1600 = 2.5

If the weight increased 2.5 times, the relation between the speeds will be 1/2.5, so:

S3 / S = 1 / 2.5

S3 = S / 2.5 = 40 km/h
