The rodeo is the official sport of Chile. September to November is spring December to February is summer and March to May is autumn. The main events do not take place in winter.
The Chilean rodeo lasts almost year round but the main events of the season spans from September until April. The events are based are on the actual work that the huaso's (cowboy's) do day to day. The breed of horse the huaso's use are low-slung which gives them the ability to move sideways. In one of the events a cow is to be pushed towards one side of the arena.
