When Victor returns to Geneva he finds that the town gates are locked and will not be reopened until dawn so he decides to go for a walk. He finds himself on Mont Blanc and through flashes of lightning he sees the monster, his creation. It is then that he realizes that the monster could be responsible for the death of his brother William.
