Why did FDR create the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)?

Essentially the SEC was created to help protect investors that buy and trade stocks and bonds. The FDIC was created to provide a federal government guarantee of deposits. Basically, both of these were created to limit the risks that go along with savings and investment. Both of them were part of FDR's New Deal. I hope this helps! =)

One of such events is the Watergate scandal in the 70s, in which case people started to undermine the government and believe that the system was working against them, which was a consequence of the fact that they believed President Nixon was using the state resources against his political opponents.
