5+-3= 2+7 = 9

I used to decreased the negative 3 to 5 because of the sign negative attached beside the 3. but why the answer becomes to be positive 2? because the positive number which is 5 is greater than the negative 3 in the given.

When we plug in the x-coordinate we get:
$f(0) = a \times {b}^{0} = a \times 1 = a$

When we fill in the x-coordinate of any other point we don't get a proper outcome.
