What is an epiphysis line on bone and how are they used to help determine the age of a skeleton?

pentagon [3]4 years ago

Answer:

In adult bone, this is a line found between the epiphysis and the diaphysis, that shows the left over or landmark of epiphyseal plate. The latter indicate the growth area for the lengthening or prolongation of long bone. The epiphyseal plate contains cartilage for bone production,while   the epiphysis line is formed after the production of bone by the epiphyseal plate.The marks the differences between the two.

Basically, the plate is only present in children and adolescent.And  replaced in adult  by epiphyseal line-epiphyseal closure.The latter occurs at different  age range in both sexes, 12-18 years in girls, and 14-19 in boys.

Hence with this fusion of plate it is possible to predict the age of a particular skeleton. If the growth plate fusion has taken place definitely, adult bone is the sample bone, without the line shows the the sample must belong to children or adolescent.

Which is the main reason cells are replaced in the body?. The cells are too large.. The cells are inactive.. The cells are damag
anygoal [31]

The right answer is The cells are damaged.

Take the example of skin cells.

The skin consists of two tissues:

* the outermost, the epidermis, resting on a vascularized connective tissue,

* the dermis.

In the epidermis, which includes several layers of cells, the outer layer is formed of dead cells that are desquamating and are constantly being replaced from proliferating basal cell cells. So, in normal conditions, the epidermis is in constant renewal.

On the other hand, when accidentally, the upper parts of the epidermis are damaged, for example, a slight abrasion or of a burn, the destroyed portion is regenerated (replaced) thanks to an accelerated proliferation of basal epidermal cells .

Why Do More Species Live Near the Equator? 5 reason why
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:Species Dynamics. This theory is quite straightforward: species that can colonize new areas faster and reproduce in greater number than they become extinct have the greatest chances to thrive. The tropics offer favorable conditions for these conditions to be met.

There Is More Diversity Near the Equator. ... Another argues that more solar energy is received around the equator, allowing for greater species richness. A third points out that equatorial tropics are the largest biome, so it makes sense that there would be more species.
