Jimmy Carter was the United States president from 1977 to 1981. He is now a philanthropist, mainly working through the Carter Center. One of Carter's most significant policies were pardoning all of the Vietnam War draft evaders. He also established the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. However, Carter did not nominate a Supreme Court Justice during his presidency.
