A news agency publishes results of a recent poll. It reports that candidate A leads candidate B by 10% because 45% of the poll p
natali 33 [55]

We need to use the formula to find Margin of Error but through the sample proportion, that is

E=z*\sqrt{\frac{\hat{p}(1-\hat{p})}{n}}

We will use a 95% confidence interval, that is a z value of 1.96 (Search in a Normal distribution table)

A) For A our \hat{p} (proportion) is equal to 0.45. So applying the formula,

E=1.96*\sqrt{\frac{0.45(1-0.45)}{900}}

E=3.25\%

B) We make the same of point A, but change our proportion to 0.35

E=1.96*\sqrt{\frac{0.35(1-0.35)}{900}}

E=3.116\%

c) We need to calculate the SE through proportion for 0.1, that is

SE = \sqrt{(\frac{\hat{p_1}(1-\hat{p_1})}{n})+(\frac{\hat{p_2}(1-\hat{p_2})}{n})}

Then our Error is given by,

E=z*SE

E=1.96*\sqrt(0.45*\frac{0.55}{900}+0.35\frac{0.65}{900}

E=0.045

Sweaters cost $39 each. This is $15 more than the price of a cap. Over the season, 725 caps were sold. What was the total sales
Leokris [45]

The price of a cap is 15 less than the sweater:

39-15 = $24

Multiply the price of a cap by amount sold:

725 x 24 = $17,400

Show that the two triangles given beside are similar and calculate the lengths of sides PQ and PR.
Rina8888 [55]

9514 1404 393

Answer:

  • ΔABC ~ ΔPQR
  • PQ = 8
  • PR = 14

Step-by-step explanation:

Angles A and P are marked congruent; angles B and Q are marked congruent, so the triangles are similar by the AA similarity postulate. The similarity statement can be written ...

  ΔABC ~ ΔPQR by AA similarity

__

The ratio of sides of PQR to ABC is the ratio QR/BC = 12/6 = 2. That is, each side in the larger triangle is 2 times the length of the corresponding smaller side.

  PQ = 2·AB = 2·4 = 8

  PR = 2·AC = 2·7 = 14

The side lengths of interest are ...

  PQ = 8, PR = 14
