How did the spanish inquisition affect Spain's national identity
Arisa [49]

As a result, through 1530 the primary activity of the Spanish Inquisition was aimed at pursuing alleged conversos. Records of the Spanish Inquisition show that virtually the only "heresy" prosecuted was the alleged secret practice of the Jewish faith. Some two thousand people from the beginning of the Spanish Inquisition through 1530 were convicted conversos. Many of these had already fled; they were burned in effigy.

How did the colonial assemblies of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century compare to the House of Commons in the Brit
guajiro [1.7K]

Two ways in which these assemblies compared with the British House of Commons were:

 • They were elected by the people.
 • They usually included wealthy people.

Colonial Assemblies in the American Colonies

 • Were established to bring a measure of self-governance to the people.
 • Were full of wealthy land owners or the more well off in society.

This was the same with the House of Commons of the British Parliament as the Commons were also voted into power by the people and usually involved the well off in society.
