The bat and a human has a common ancestor. Over millions of years, changes occurred. Now, these bones perform different functions in each type of animal.

The bats wing and our arm are "homologous structures" and are an example of divergent evolution. The bat and our common ancestor, most likely a small mammal, had the same number of arm bones as us and bats, and when bats/humans speciated (became new species), we kept the same number of bones. However, bats found it advantageous to grow their "fingers" very long in order to hold their wings, whereas we found it useful to grow our arms long, so we can reach and lift things.

All in all, the same bone number and similar structure shows that humans and bats shared a common ancestor, and our arms are "homologous structures".

lions [1.4K]

Answer:

Yes, it is possible to get shingles more than once.

Explanation:

Women are more likely to have shingles a second time more than men.

The longer the post herpetic neuralgia ( pain after shingles) the higher the chances of recurrence.

If shingles comes back, it may occur on another side of the body. This is because, once you have had chicken pox, the virus remains in the nerve. When the virus then reactivates the infected nerves become inflamed and when the virus reaches the skin, the rash appears.

Because some plant groups readily hybridize with other plant groups, which species conceptis not very useful in defining plant s
Leviafan [203]

Interbreeding species concept-species concepts is not very useful in defining plant species because some plant groups readily hybridize with other plant groups. The biological species concept holds that organisms are members of a common species if they can interbreed and result in live, fertile offspring. Prezygotic and postzygotic obstacles separate species from one another and prevent mating or the development of viable, fertile offspring. New species emerge through a process called speciation. It happens when populations of a species diverge and become reproductively isolated. When groups from an ancestral population undergo allopatric speciation, it is because of a period of geographic isolation that they diverge into distinct species. When groups from the same ancestral population evolve into distinct species, there is no geographical separation.

Why did the removal of wolves affect the entire Yellowstone ecosystem?
strojnjashka [21]

A

Explanation:

Since Wolves were one of the main predators (not the ONLY one) prey started to over populate causing the vegetation population to decrease. Since the vegetation decreases so does the number of prey then as well as the number of predators.
