Maria looked at the architectural plan of a room with four walls in which the walls meet each other at right angles. The length

of one wall in the plan is 13 inches. The length of the diagonal of the floor of the room in the plan is approximately 15.26 inches. Is the room in the shape of a square? Explain how you determined your answer. Show all your work.

Using the Pythagorean theorm,
a^2 + b^2 = C^2, where a nd b are the side lengths and c is the hypotenuse ( diagonal line)

If it was a square both sides would be the same length so we would have:
13^2 +13^2 = c^2
169 + 169 = c^2
338 = c^2

c = SQRT(338) = 18.38

18.38 is larger than the 15.26 given in the problem , so the room is not a square.

Una diseñadora de modas que confecciona trajes de noche, tarda 3 horas en cortar y 2 horas en coser cada vestido de fiesta. Para
ella [17]

For this case we define the following variables:

x: Number of party dresses

y: Number of suits

You have 30 hours per week to cut, that is, the first equation is given by:

3x + 3y = 30\\

It is also known that 25 hours per week are available for sewing, that is:

2x + 3y = 25\\

It has a system of two equations with two unknowns, solving we have:

3x + 3y = 30\\\\2x + 3y = 25\\

Multiplying the second equation by -1:

3x + 3y = 30\\\\-2x-3y = -25\\

Adding up:

x + 0 = 5\\\\x = 5\\

Substituting x in the first equation:

3 * 5 + 3y = 30\\\\15 + 3y = 30\\

Clearing and:

3y = 30-15\\\\3y = 15\\

y = \frac{15}{3}\\\\y = 5\\

Thus, per week, the designer can produce 5 party dresses and 5 suits working at her maximum capacity.

Answer:

5 Party dresses

5 Suits

A large koi pond is filled from a garden hose at the rate of 12 gal/min. Initially, the pond contains 200 gal of water.
Semmy [17]

a) The linear function that models the amount of water after t minutes is given by:

V(t) = 200 + 12t

b) It takes 92 minutes to completely fill the pond.

Item a:

  • Initially, the pond contains 200 gal of water, that is, the linear function has a y-intercept of 200.
  • Filled at a rate of 12 gallons per minute, thus the linear function has a slope of 12.

Then, the function is:

V(t) = 200 + 12t

Item b:

It takes t minutes to fill the pond, t is found for which:

V(t) = 1304

Then

200 + 12t = 1304

12t = 1104

t = \frac{1104}{12}

t = 92

It takes 92 minutes to completely fill the pond.

5. Lila flies a drone in the direction of 90 degrees towards Avery. Once she gets to Avery she changes course and flies in the d
disa [49]

Answer:

Mark and Lila are 29.83 meters apart.

Step-by-step explanation:

If we draw a triangle with the information given (see image attached), we have that the angle Lila-Avery-Mark is equal to 70°. Then, to find the distance between Mark and Lila, we just need to use the law of cosines, using the two sides given and the angle between them:

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2*a*b*cos(C)

c^2 = 30^2 + 20^2 - 2*30*20*cos(70)

c^2 = 900 + 400 - 1200*0.342

c^2 = 889.6

c = 29.83 m

Mark and Lila are 29.83 meters apart.
