A machine that cost £35,000 is operated 8 hours a day in a 5-day week but one hour each day is used for test purposes. For use o

f the machine there are three scales of charges, the first at the rate of £5 an hour for private use, the second at £15 an hour for research work and the third at £40 an hour for commercial work. It is estimated that the number of hours charged at the first, second and third rates are in ratios 4:2:1. What percentage of total receipts do receipts from commercial work represent?

1 hour each day is used for test
so 8-1=7 used per day

so commercial is 1 in the 4:2:1 so
4+2+1=7
ok, so 7 units, 7 hours
4 hour for private
2 hour for research
1 hour of commerical

4*5=20=private
2*15=30=research
1*4=40=commercial

20+30+40=90

percent from commercial
40/90=0.44444444444≈44.44% about 44%

Charges for private use in particular week=4*5*5=100
Charges for research work in particular week=2*15*5=150
Charges for commercial work in a particular week=1*40*5=200
Total charges in a particular week=100+150+200=450
Percentage of charges of commercial work in total receipts=(200/450)*100=44.4%

Find the exact values of sin(u/2) cos(u/2) and tan(u/2) given sin u=24/25 and pie/2 &lt; u &lt; pie
vlada-n [284]

Recall the double/half angle formulas:

\cos^2\dfrac x2=\dfrac{1+\cos x}2

\sin^2\dfrac x2=\dfrac{1-\cos x}2

We're given \sin u=\frac{24}{25}, and since u is between π/2 and π, we expect \cos u to be negative. So from the Pythagorean identity, we find

\sin^2u+\cos^2u=1\implies\cos u=-\sqrt{1-\sin^2u}=-\dfrac7{25}

Also, we know \frac u2 will fall between π/4 and π/2, so both \sin\frac u2 and \cos\frac u2 will be positive. Then we find

\cos\dfrac u2=\sqrt{\dfrac{1+\cos u}2}=\dfrac35

\sin\dfrac u2=\sqrt{\dfrac{1-\cos u}2}=\dfrac45

and it follows that

\tan\dfrac u2=\dfrac{\sin\frac u2}{\cos\frac u2}=\dfrac43

Find the measures of the angles formed by (a) two consecutive radii and (b) a radius and a side of the given regular polygon.14.
Bezzdna [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let radius = r and side of a regular polygon = s

a) The consecutive radii = r + r + 1

i) For Square ( 4- sides) : r + r + 1 = 90°

2r + 1 = 90°

ii) For Pentagon (5- sides) :  2r + 1 =108°

iii) For Hexagon (6- sides): 2r + 1 = 120°

iv) For Heptagon (7- sides): 2r + 1 = 129°

v) For Octagon (8- sides): 2r + 1 = 135°

vi) For Nonagon (9- sides): 2r + 1 = 140°

vii) For 20 sides: 2r + 1 = 162°

b) A radius and a side = r + s

i) For Square (4- sides): r + s = 90°

ii ) For Pentagon (5- sides): r + s = 108°

iii) For Hexagon (6- sides): r + s = 120°

iv) For Heptagon (7- sides): r + s = 129°

v) For Octagon (8- sides): r + s = 135°

vi) For Nonagon (9- sides): r + s = 140°

vii) For 20 sides: r + s = 162°

Rasek [7]

Answer and Step-by-step explanation:

To find the range, we must plug in the values 0 to 15 into the function to find the values of f(x), which are the range.

When plugging in the values, we see that the answer should be the last one.

We start with a pay of $15.50, and it increases each time by $10, until it reaches $165.50.

<u>So, D is the answer.</u>
