Answer:

D. Provide the Ottoman Empire with trained professional soldiers

Explanation:

The Devshirme system was a system through which the Ottoman Empire was getting recruits for its military. This system was also known as the ''blood tax'' and the people of the Balkan Peninsula had it the hardest with it. The Ottoman officers were going each year and getting the strongest young boys, usually preferring to take them at age 8 or 9, but it was done with boys up until the age of 18. Once taken away, the little boys were trained for the military, as well as being thought to practice the Islam and the Sultan, thus making them a loyal military force. The name used for this soldiers was mostly Yanichari.

irina [24]

In at least two hundred words, discuss the importance of memory in Act III of Our Town. How does the text illustrate this theme? Consider the way that memory influences the happiness of the characters, as well as how it fits into the overall theme of universality.

In the play Our Town, memory is an important element. The play touches on the topic of nostalgia, and on how humans tend to look back to the past with fondness. By doing this, they forget about enjoying the present, which reinforces the cycle.

An example is the character of Emily. She is now dead, and the dead advise her to stop looking toward the world of the living. She needs to let go of her past and move on. Moreover, she has to start looking towards her future and her new "life." However, Emily is incapable of letting go of her past. She is shocked to realize how humans do not appreciated life when it is going on, but instead take too much pleasure on their memories and their past. However, Emily is doing the same by being unable to let go of her past life and learning to appreciate what her present offers her.

The treaty of paris (1763) divided north america among european powers. explain how england, france, and spain probably viewed t
Verizon [17]

The Treaty of Paris signed in 1763, was the end of the "French-Indian war", a conflict which took place among three major powers at the time : France, Britain and Spain which fought for the colonies in North America. These powers had Native American tribes allied with each one of them and it is called "French - Indian War" because the British considered the French and the Natives to be their enemies.

Spain might have contemplated this as a victory as it expanded its territories to the east, adding territories to their already vast empire of South and Central America. France basically lost their territories in North America, and their interest of exploiting natural resources such as furs. Finally, although British and Americans expanded their territories to the west, this entreprise was greatly expensive for Britain.
