Answer:

A landforms that forms at the plate boundary as a result of divergent stress or when two tectonic plates move apart is a mid-ocean ridge or a continental rift valley.

Explanation:

There are three types of plate movements: converging, transforming and diverging.

Converging plates either push together, forming mountains or subduct, one sliding under the other.

Transform boundaries are plates that push on each other as they slide in opposite directions

Divergent plates move away from each other, creating a rift in the brittle rock of the lithosphere. Divergent boundaries may occur on the ocean floor or  on land. Divergent movement in ocean forms a mid-ocean ridge while a continental rift valley if it occurs on land. These geological processes of divergent boundaries shape the continents and oceans over time by forming new crust and new oceans.

Ocean ridges would form. Mid-ocean ridges result from volcanic swelling and eruptions along the divergent boundary.

Sort the different barriers into their modes of reproductive isolation. A snail with a flat disc-like shell will not be able to
Stella [2.4K]

Answer/Explanation:

Types of reproductive isolation include: temporal, ecological, mechanical, and behavioural.

A snail with a flat disc-like shell will not be able to mate with a snail having a conical shell - this is an example of mechanical isolation, where the animals are physically unable to mate due to incompatible body shapes and sizes.

The reproductive organs of male bush babies do not match with the reproductive organs of females of other bush baby species. - this is another example of mechanical isolation, as the sexual organs will physically not allow reproduction between these species

The mating call of a cricket is not recognized by a cricket of other species - this is an example of behavioural isolation, which results from incompatible mating rituals. I.e. the animals do not respond to each others mating behaviours

The signals sent by a male firefly are not recognized by the female firefly of other species. - this is also an example of behavioural isolation.

Temporal isolation is where species cannot interact because they do not have the same mating seasons or are not active at the same type of day. ?Ecological isolation occurs when two species do not come into physical contact to one another because they access different areas of the habitat. E.g. mating zones, food sources or nesting sites.

The La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles are the site of millions of fossils from the ice age. Woolly mammoths, giant sloths, dragonf
TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

Scientists learn how climatic changes during the ice age affected life in this region by analyzing specimens found in these tar pits

Explanation:

La Brea Tar Pits are a group of tar pits in Los Angeles. Many preserved remains of ancient organisms (i.e., fossils) were extracted from the tar, including, among others, Western horses, prehistoric camels, three-toed tapirs, rodent bones, insects, mollusks, wood, plants, etc. The oldest fossils have been dated to be approximately 38,000 years ago by radiometric techniques. Moreover, the Last Glacial Period was the most recent glacial period within the Quaternary glaciation, which encompassed the period between 115,000 to 10,000 years ago. This period (LGP) encompassed the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), which occurred about 20,000 years ago. In consequence, many of the fossils found in La Brea Tar Pits evidence how the ice age affected life in this region. Moreover, many of the fossil species extracted from the tar are still present today, thereby indicating how these species adapted to fluctuating climatic conditions, whereas certain species couldn't adapt fast enough as the environment changed and therefore they went extinct.
