During the period of the 1920s, Radio broadcasting started with the historic broadcast of KDKA but only a few people were able to hear actual voices and music in that broadcast because of the dearth of radio frequencies at that time. But craze for radio sets among people after that and soon it became part of a mass market. People used to stand in line to buy radios and the craze was that much that manufacturers had to run their radio manufacturing units day and night to complete orders and most of the time, the Radio dealers were sold-out.  

Within three years by 1923, almost 60% of the American people purchased radios and families used to gather around their radio sets for night-time entertainment. Along with the ownership of radios, there was an increase in the number of Radio stations also. Westinghouse and capital manufacturing company was the first to introduce Opera on radio and it used to broadcast opera six days a week.  Soon after opera, Radio broadcasters thought that there was a need for change in radio programs so then came the time when they started broadcasting popular music, events related to sports, political news and weather reports.
