Explanation:

1- When a reader comes across information he / she thinks relevant, he / she will take down notes of that information. In that way, he / she will be able  to remember it.

3- The reader may want to quote some excerpts from the book he / she has been reading, so he / she will copy the accurate words on his / her notes.

7- If a summary is needed, through his / her notes the reader will be able to summarise the main ideas from the book.
