Perimeter is P = 2L + 2W, with L being length and W being width.  If the perimeter is 80, we have the P for our equation.  It tells us that the width is  feet less than the length, so W = L - 8.  We will fill that into our perimeter equation to solve for L.  80 = 2L + 2(L-8).  80 = 2L + 2L - 16.  64 = 2L + 2L , and 64 = 4L.  That means that the length is 16.  The width is 8 less than that, so the width is 8.  There you go!

Answer:

The length and width of the pool = 24 ft and 16 ft

Step-by-step explanation:

Let length of pool be l and width of pool be w.

A pool in the shape of a rectangle has a perimeter of 80feet.

Perimeter of pool = 2 x ( l + w ) = 80 feet

That is

       l + w  = 40 ft -----------------------------------eqn 1.

The pool is 8 feet less wide than it is long.

      l = 8 + w

       l - w  = 8 ft -----------------------------------eqn 2.

eqn 1 + eqn 2

        2 l = 48

         l = 24 ft

Substituting

         24 + w = 40

         w = 16 ft

The length and width of the pool = 24 ft and 16 ft

Write a rational equation that relates the desired percentage to the amount of % acid solution that needs to be added to liter o
mart [117]

This question is incomplete

Complete Question

Write a rational equation that relates the desired percentage p, to the amount A of a 30% solution that needs to be added to 1 liter of 10% acid solution to make a blend that is p% acid, where 0<p<100 . What is a reasonable restriction on the set of possible values of ? Explain your answer.

Answer:

100(0.1 + 0.3A)= (1 + A) P

Step-by-step explanation:

A of a 30% solution that needs to be added to 1 liter of 10% acid solution to make a blend that is p% acid,

Hence,

10% of 1 + 30% of A = p%(1 + A)

0.10 + 0.3A = (p/100)(1 + A)

Divide both sides by 1 + A

0.1 + 0.3A/ 1 + A = p/100

Cross Multiply

100(0.1 + 0.3A) = 1 + A(p)

From the above calculation, we can see that, the blend that would be formed is not lower than 10% or greater than 30%

10% < p< 30%

Slope = raise / run

(211.1 - 212.0) / (0.5-0) = - 1.8

(210.2 - 211.1) / (1.0-0.5) = - 1.8

(208.4 - 210.2) / (2.0 - 1.0) = - 1.8

You can check, the other points. The slope is constant because the function is a linear equation,
