The
Scarlet Letter shows readers the lives of a Puritan community in the 17th
century. Religion (blind religion) meant everything to them, and the words of
their Reverends was law. Breaking any religious rules was punished by public
humiliation and punishment of the person who committed it, for example, Hester
Prynne. When the church found out that she was committing adultery, they forced
her to wear a scarlet letter 'A' on her chest, so that her sin could follow her
everywhere and she (and others in the community), could be constantly reminded
of it. <span>
<span>This kind of belief in punishing supposed "sinners"
made relationships between men and women in this Puritan community very
strained. Religion governed their way of life. They failed to realize that no
human is perfect, and no human can precisely follow that kind of a lifestyle.
In the end, when the reader finds out who the man was that Hester had committed
adultery with, it is obvious what Hawthorne was trying to communicate about
such strict organized religion; no one is as perfect as God, therefore looking
up to reverends and priests in such a blind belief is dangerous because they
are only human and make similar mistakes as everyone else.</span></span>
The KKK reemerged again and grew to millions of members in the 20s for a variety fo reasons.
They first gained a foothold in the depression after World War I before the roaring 20s. By stoking the xenophobia and conservative moralism of white Protestants in cities around the country (not just the South), the KKK was able to recruit members who feared immigrants and a loss of their "way of life."
The answers are as follows:
1. In the painting, the white settlers are choosing to move West, they want to hope for a better life up there and everyone in the village is moving as fast as they can.
2. The cases were Georgia was forcing the Cherokees off their land and were denying them rights. And Worcester v. Georgia was Georgia would not let non Native Americans on Native Americans land. Both of these cases relate to what is happening right now because president Trump will not let immigrants into the United States.
3. This movement is affecting our people by showing that thousands of them are dying because they barely get fed, or even have food, also they are dehydrated because the lack of water in their system, medical supplies incase they get sick from bacteria and bacteria that is not good for them they cannot solve. They want to move west where they have freedom, and will not be crowded.
4. Robert Lindeux’s purpose in this painting is to show you an idea of what life was like back then, and what is going on in this picture. He tries to help you understand the scene through his art, using body language and facial expressions.

It did not bring to an end the tremendous injustices that African Americans had to suffer on a day-to-day basis, and some of its activities, such as the work of the Federal Housing Administration, served to build rather than break down the walls of segregation that separated black from white in Jim Crow America. Yet as Mary McLeod Bethune once noted, the Roosevelt era represented “the first time in their history” that African Americans felt that they could communicate their grievances to their government with the “expectancy of sympathetic understanding and interpretation.” Indeed, it was during the New Deal, that the silent, invisible hand of racism was fully exposed as a national issue; as a problem that at the very least needed to be recognized; as something the county could no longer pretend did not exist.
